About Habibs Salon

Habib Ahmed, the founder of the ‘Habibs’ chain of salon and academies, was born on October 2, 1940, in the small town of Jalalabad, near Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh. He is the eldest of nine siblings, with six sisters and three brothers. He is a man with simple thoughts— that we have to move forward. In the last years of British India, Habib’s father, Nazir Ahmed, worked as a barber for the Viceroys. Around 1936, he began working for the British government in India at the then-Viceroy House.

Later Habib moved to England to pursue a career in hair design. It was a time when the term “hairdressing” truly encompassed everything that occurred. Following his training in the United Kingdom, Habib worked for the Oberai Group of Hotels in New Delhi from 1971 to 1981, during which time the vague idea of opening his own salon grew stronger. Habib had the opportunity to train with well-known European brand names such as Alexander, Mario, and Bruno, and desired to emulate what they had done in the field of entrepreneurship in India.

Where it Started?

The first Habibs Hair & Beauty salon opened in 1982 in the Lodi Hotel. Within the next two years, Habib established a styling teaching institute, Habib Sons Academy, which also operated from the Lodi Hotel premises. The House of Habibs is now a well-known name in the hairdressing industry, with brand salon in New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Udaipur, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Mangalore, Cochin, Goa, Bangladesh, Nepal, London, and New York. Habib Ahmed took over a traditional craft from his father Nazir and has been instrumental in revolutionizing hairstyling in India. Habib’s three sons, Jawed, Parvez, and Amzad, are brand ambassadors in their own right, carrying on the family business and frequently traveling across India and abroad providing training to other hairstylists.

1940

Born 2 October

Habib Ahmed was born on October 2, 1940, in the small Uttar Pradesh town of Jalalabad, near Muzaffarnagar. It was a medieval Afghan settlement. He has three brothers and six sisters. He is a man with simple thoughts and who knows the value of every penny.

1969

Graduated from Morris School of Hairdressing – London

Habib studied and trained in London for several years at Morris School. He returned India with a new definition for the barber’s profession, transforming the conservative image of a nai under the tree privy to deep dark confessions and a parlour king.

1971

Life time achievement a Worked at Oberoi hotel New Delhi for 13 years serving the whose and who of Bollywood.

Habib worked at high-end parlour in Oberoi Hotel, Delhi. It is a wellknown centre of hairdressing which serves the popular clients like Indira Gandhi, the Modis, Rajmata Gayatri Devi, and more.

1973

First Habib’s Hair and Beauty Salon was opened in Lodhi , New Delhi inaugurates by Rajesh Khanna.

The first Habibs Hair & Beauty salon opened in the Lodi Hotel and was inaugurated by Habib's favorite actor, Rajesh Khanna. The only parlour directly owned by Habib Ahmed and a well-known fashion destination in Delhi.

1985

Opened India’s first and only Hair styling institute – Habib’s Hair Academy

Habib set up the first styling training institute, Habib Sons Academy. The House of Habib's is now a well-known name in the hairdressing industry, with brand salon in India.

1992

Habib’s cosmetics was opened in 1992 producing world class hair and beauty products till date.

Habibs has recently added their own signature line of hair care products to the Habibs range. The company, which now has a factory in Dehradun, started operation in Gurgaon in 1997. Habibs Cosmetics Pvt Ltd provides skin toners, refreshers, moisturizers, cleansing milk, sunscreen lotion, spa massage , and more.

1999

First Habib’s Franchise was opened in Gurgaon , India

The first Habib's franchise was developed in Gurgaon, India. He choose the the FOCO franchise model and opened several salons across India. Today, Habibs is one of India's most well-known and respected salon brands.

2003

Lifetime Achievement Award - AIHBA - All India Hairstyling and Beauty Award

In 2003, Habib was awarded the prestigious AIHBA - All India Hairstyling and Beauty Award, which is a lifetime achievement award. Today, Habib’s hair styling concept is a seamless fusion of Indian and Western hairstyling based on the Geometrical System.

2000/2005

APJ Abdul Kalam was his client

APJ Abdul Kalam, the man behind the missiles, was one of Habibs' famous clients. When Kalam moved to Delhi in the late 1990s, he went to Habib's salon at the Lodhi Hotel for the first time and continued to visit Habib for this specific hairstyle. Habib considers himself fortunate to have met a scientist who later became President.

2020

Habib’s Hair and Beauty Salon and all its Franchises business crosses Rs 10 CR per month totalling 120 Cr + /Annum.

Habibs Hair & Beauty is a one-stop shop in India for both ordinary and extraordinary hairstyling. They have opened many franchise-based salon which now have an annual revenue of Rs 10 Cr per month totalling 120 Cr + /Annum.

2022

150th Habib’s Hair and Beauty Salon Inaugurated in Pune .

In Pune, the 150th Habib's Hair and Beauty Salon is inaugurated. Habibs Salon has stayed a pioneer in hair and beauty solutions and is now setting benchmarks in hairstyle, outperforming all industry standards to give professionalism a novel style.
